Climbing in Granada

Sports climbing

Granada has 16 major climbing areas, with around 160 sectors and more than 2.000 routes! On the mostly limestone rock you can find anything from leaned in slabs, over vertical and technical walls, up to high overhanging routes on tufas.

Multipitch routes

Some areas offer multipitch routes, like half-day adventures with amazing Sierra Nevada views in Alfacar, pretty alpine routes in the beautiful gorge of Los Cahorros and amazingly high multipitches in Los Vados close to the beach of the Costa Tropical.

Bouldering

Many of Granadas boulders are right in front of our door, like Cogollos and Nivar. Another beautiful spot is Nigüelas, just south of Granada. And Andalusias biggest and best boulder area, Villanueva del Rosario, is just a one hour drive away.

Via ferratas

Some areas like Los Vados offer via ferratas and cordatas (climbing on installations but securing with a rope). The most famous and interesting one is for sure the Ferrata de Moclin, where you cross between rocks on a zipline several times.

Alpine climbing

The mountains of the Sierra Nevada offer a lot of high alpine climbs! You can go on rock multipitches like on the walls of Veleta, or choose one of the many mixed alpine climbs in snow, ice and rock on Mulhacen, Veleta, Alcazaba and more.

Ice climbing

In the winter season the Sierra Nevada offers pure ice climbs, as well as a lot of mixed climbs, like the north face of Mulhacen (AD) or the Canuto Norte de Veleta (AD).
For practising there is even a drytooling spot in La Zubia.
